At Monday’s city council committee of the whole meeting, aldermen gave preliminary approval to a plan for the Kossner-Dietzler VFW Post 5729 and Ladies Auxiliary to construct a gazebo in the State Street minipark. A party of six had been making a wholesale job of shoplifting at Medford, Merrill, Wausau, Antigo, and Tomahawk. They were all arrested at Antigo following an attempt to get away with a bathroom scale from a store there.

The Medford Minstrels are billed to appear at Opera hall on Thursday evening, February 17, and at McCombs opera house, Rib Lake, on Friday evening, the 19th. All we can say of this coming event is that the members of the company are rehearsing very faithfully, and that their efforts in the past have been conspicuously successful.
