As Mayor Mike Wellner explains it, Weather Shield’s dam north of Allman Street in Medford did not cause a new floodplain to be created. However, if the dam wasn’t there, it is unlikely the Department of Natural Resources would have worried about a creek that connects the dam to the Black River. The office will now be filled through appointment and not election, and the term will be for a two year period.
