Jeff and Leta Wrightsman of Medford, saw a need for organic and bulk foods and a retail shop for solar and renewable energy in the Medford area. Out of that vision came JLAR Valley. The shop is located at N5541 Hwy 13 in what was once a taxidermist business. The Wrightsman’s have done the bulk of the remodeling themselves installing a bank of refrigerators and shelving. The shop remains a work in progress since opening its doors to the public last month. They are working on arranging products and are building up their inventory to meet their customers’ needs. Even as the store is opening Jeff Wrightsman has an eye to the future, planning for how the shop can be expanded in years to come.

Chairman Peter J. Olson, of Holway, attended the meeting of the county board this week as usual with him for several years, although about a week previous he met with an accident which resulted in a fractured rib. He was plowing his farm at the time and the plow point cut in an obstruction. He has a strong team of horses, but the obstruction was also a strong one, and in a quick pull the end of the plow presided over by Mr. Olson was suddenly shot upwards, and the chairman went with it. He landed on his side across the beam of the plow where he sustained the injury.
