Hilgemann, Hunter Nation president/CEO, to speak in Stratford on Nov. 16
Stratford native Luke Hilgemann is the president and CEO of Hunter Nation, which is a national grassroots organization of hunters and sportsmen. Hilgemann, who now lives in Marshfield, also is the former CEO of Americans for Prosperity (AFP), which is a libertarian conservative political advocacy group.
The Republican Party of Marathon County has announced that Hilgemann will be speaking at Pints and Politics on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at The Cellar Sports Bar and Grill, located at 305 N Third Ave. in downtown Stratford. The event begins with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by a program at 6 p.m. The Republican Party of Marathon County said Luke will share his passion for conservative principles and challenge people to roll up their sleeves and keep working.
Prior to his work with AFP, Luke worked in the Wisconsin state legislature for more than a decade, most recently as chief of staff for the majority leader in the State Assembly. Luke is also a veteran of Wisconsin politics, having worked on several successful campaigns across the state. His most recent work included helping to secure a 60-set majority in the State Assembly as a regional campaign manager for the Republican Assembly Campaign Committee in 2010.
Hunter Nation was founded by Keith Mark and its mission is: “To be the united voice of the American hunter, to protect our sport, our lifestyle and our heritage– while standing for the principles of God, family, country and our nation’s Constitution.”
The national grassroots organization outlines the following challenges facing the American hunter: Hunters are hardworking patriots from all walks of life and backgrounds. Hunters are concerned about many critical issues facing the country and their lifestyle, yet hunters remain largely uninvolved in the policy process and in electing public leadership; hunters don’t have a powerful voice on policies that affect their sport and lifestyle; policies that are harmful to the country, American hunters and the hunting lifestyle are frequently introduced at the state and national level; many public leaders are disconnected from issues impacting the outdoor heritage of the country and Second Amendment rights, responsible conservation, predator management and advancing the nation’s founding principles are important to all Americans–not only hunters.
Hunter Nation is building an army of informed and engaged outdoorsmen and women amplifying hunters’ voices at the election ballot box, driving them to become involved in electing principled public leaders; informing hunters about where their lawmakers stand on key issues; empowering American hunters to become and remain involved in the policy process; advancing national and state policies rooted in the ideas of God, family, country, the outdoor lifestyle and the nation’s Constitution and holding public leaders accountable, evaluating their stance and encouraging them to embrace the country’s principles and to stand strong on Hunter Nation’s pillar issues.
The following are Hunter Nation’s pillar issues: Hunting heritage, protecting the Second Amendment to keep and bear arms, land access, wolves and responsible predator management and the retention and re-engagement of hunters.
