Anglers brave frigid weather for Lake Esadore fishing contest
Last weekend frigid weather didn’t keep people away from the annual Esadore Area Lake Association fishing contest. Organizers reported there was a strong turnout of anglers willing to brave the sub-zero wind chills with the hopes of bagging a winner.
Competitions were held in adult and youth categories.
In the adult category, Braxton Meyer and Trevor Gillett tied for first place for bluegill with each catching fish that were 7.5 inches long. For crappies, a quarter inch separated the first and second place with Savannah Brandt taking first with a 10.5 inch crappie and Blake Shilling had second place with a 10.25 inch fish. Ted Gillett took first place in the bass competition with his 17.5 inch catch with Paul Jaecrs taking second with a 15.75 inch bass. For northerns, Lee Myszka caught a 20.5 inch fish for first place and Nick Kowalski had to settle for second place with his 20.25 inch fish. Each first place winner received $25 and the second place received a prize of $15.
In the youth division, Blake Schilling took first place with his 9 inch crappie with Kailey Krug taking second place with an 8.5 inch fish. Espen Ketelhut took first place for bass with a 16 inch fish with Easten Schwartz in second place with a 15.5 inch fish. Each first place in the youth division received a $20 prize and the second place finishers received $10.
In addition to the fishing contest, the event included drawing prizes. Prize winners were 243 Winchester Rifle Adam Krug, $200 cash Cindy Hanke, $100 cash Ed Emery, $75 cash Tammy Raasch, $75 High View gift certificate Nick Nelson, $75 Turtle Club gift certificate Brad Jentzsch, $25 Fuzzy’s gift certificate Makayla Patterson.
