Although they weren’t at full strength, the Cornell-Lake Holcombe track program nonetheless saw success, April 11, at home, as sophomore Megan Paff set a new school record in shot put for the girls, with her throw of 33 feet, 11.5 inches, for third place in the event.
Paff also took fifth in discus (81-03), while freshman Ann Pogodzinski placed third in the 100-meter hurdles (21.03) and fourth in high jump (4-02). Freshman Kaitlyn Helland came in sixth in the high jump (4-00) and 13th in the long jump (10-02).
For the boys, senior Hunter Anders took second in high jump (5-06), fifth in the 200-meter dash (25-56) and seventh in the 100-meter dash (12.51), with junior Carson Stipek in second in pole vault (10-06) and 12th in the 100 dash (14.01).
Junior Tommy Kane placed eighth in discus throw (80-02) and 17th in the 200 dash (33.29), while sophomore Will Willmarth was 11th in the long jump (14-08), 15th in discus (52-05) and 18th in the 200 dash (33.98).
Coming in 11th in the 400-meter dash, was junior Jordan Ness (1:07.49), who also placed 14th in the long jump (12-00) and 16th in the 200 dash (31.00).
“We had a small team, due to a golf tournament and State forensics,” said coach Laurie Bowe. “The athletes, who competed, did well and many of them improved from their last track meet.”
