It was off to the Northern Badger Classic, March 29, at UW-Stout, for an indoor meet to kick off the season for the Cornell-Lake Holcombe track program.
“It was a great experience for them to compete on an indoor track, with schools from Wisconsin and Minnesota,” said coach Laurie Bowe.
Placing high for the Knights, on the girls’ side, was junior Megan Paff, who came in 11th in shot put (30-06), which was followed by 28th place in high jump from freshman Ann Pogodzinski (4-00), who also was 60th in the 200-meter dash (31.80). Freshman Lane Porter came next, with 42nd in the 800-meter run (3:41.95).
For the boys, sophomore Bryce DeJongh took 14th in pole vault (8-00), while senior Hunter Anders placed 29th in high jump (5-03) and 33rd in the 200 dash (25.71). In long jump, junior Tommy Kane was 11th (11-10.75), with junior Jordan Ness right behind, in 51st (11-04).
Kane also placed 51st in shot put (27-06.25) and 108th in the 200 dash (33.30), with junior Logan Jaedike in 54th in the 200 dash (26.63) and DeJongh just a step behind, in 55th (26.64).
“No one was placed at the track meet, but they performed where we, the coaches, expected them to,” said Bowe. “I am excited to see what these athletes do the rest of the season.”
