Stratford Sharp Shooters’ success

Both Stratford Sharp Shooters NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) middle and high school bullseye and 3D teams, along with many individual middle and high school archers, shot well enough at last weekend’s state competition in Wisconsin Dells to qualify for nationals on May 8-10 in Louisville, Ky.
The high school bullseye target squad took second place with a score of 3,385 and the middle school placed third with 3,197. Ali Griepentrog took first place among high school females shooting bullseye with a score of 292, followed by Alaina Bangart in second with 289. Austin Bohman placed second among middle school male bullseye competitors with a score of 288. All three of them qualified for nationals.
Other Stratford archers who qualified for nationals include Zac Brooks who took seventh place among middle school males at state with a score of 280, Jacob Woodford placing ninth among high school males with 286 and his sister, Haley Woodford, taking 10th place among high school females with 283.
Stratford High School’s 3D archery team, in which archers shoot at lifelike animal targets, took second place at state with a score of 1,649. The middle school squad placed third at state with a score of 1,604. Both of Stratford’s 3D teams qualified for nationals.
Alexa Krieg took third place among high school female 3D archers at state with a score of 282 and Amanda Budtke placed fourth among high school females with 280. They both qualified for nationals.
Other Stratford 3D archers who qualified for nationals include Austin Bohman who took ninth place among middle school males with a score of 274, Kate Cordes who placed sixth among middle school females with 273 and Makayla Miller who placed 10th among middle school females with 270.
Stratford Sharp Shooters NASP held a home tournament on March 14-15 with the bullseye competition in the middle/ high school gym and the 3D competition in the elementary school gym. Just under 600 archers were signed up to shoot in nearly 900 flight positions.

The following Stratford archers obtained new personal best scores while shooting 3D: Archer Bores, 201; Ruby Casperson, 219; Alizabeth Griepentrog, 276; John Guralski, 258; Tyler Lange, 277; Keirstyn Mannigel, 277; Makayla Miller, 261; Madison Newburry, 254; Danielle Stuttgen, 222; Mason Weichelt, 234 and Haley Woodford, 271.
Stratford’s high school 3D team took first place with a score of 1,678. Amanda Budtke took first place among high school females shooting 3D with a score of 285 while John Guralski placed second among elementary school males with 258, Noah Bornbach was third among high school males with 282 and Austin Bohman was third among middle school males with 280.
Jeff and Cindy Braun, who own and operate AMS Bowfishing in the Stratford Business/Industrial Park, founded the non-profit Eau Pleine Outdoors Club which built an indoor archery range in 2015 in the Stratford Business/Industrial Park where the Stratford Sharp Shooters practice.
