Handful of locals on second team

The Wisconsin Rapids Assumption varsity girls basketball team dominated the Marawood South Conference by having four of five players make first team allconference for the second straight season. Royals senior guard Sarah Shaw was awarded Marawood South player of the year for the second straight season and head coach Ryan Klein was named coach of the year for the second straight season.
Assumption went undefeated in the Marawood South Conference with a 16-0 record for the second straight season. The Royals won their fourth consecutive Marawood South title and finished this season with a 29-1 overall record after winning the WIAA Division 5 state championship.
Royals seniors Addi Vollert, Anna Schooley and Shaw are unanimous first team all-Marawood South Conference selections and junior Jordan Jaglinski also made first team all-conference this season. Auburndale sophomore Lily Bellanti was the only player from a different school on the first team.
Shaw is a unanimous first team all-conference selection three consecutive years while Vollert and Schooley made it two straight years. Jaglinski has made first team all-conference without the unanimous tag for the last two years.
South second teamers
Stratford junior Tria Tubbs received second team all-Marawood South Conference for the second straight season. Tigers sophomore Carly Pankratz also made second team all-conference this season after receiving honorable mention all-conference last season.
Marathon juniors Emma Love and Mylee Haehlke were awarded second team all-Marawood South this season after receiving honorable mention all-conference last season. Auburndale sophomore Mya Katzenberger also made second team all-conference.
Edgar juniors Brandi Halvorsen and Savannah Koepke received honorable mention all-Marawood South this season. Marathon seniors Cayden Sapinksi and Chenpieng Phakitthong also made second team all-Marawood South along with Stratford seniors Kayla Casperson and Daisy Yoder. Casperson also received honorable mention all-conference last season.
Other honorable mention all-Marawood South players this season are Assumption senior Claire Nelson and junior Leire Sainz de Rosas, Auburndale sophomores Oriah Harris and Rose Hasenohrl along with Newman Catholic senior Malayan Severson and sophomore Aubrey Puent.
Seniors Emery Borchardt of Edgar and Laney Pankratz of Stratford were awarded to the Marawood South’s all-defensive team this season along with Marathon sophomore Maycie Myszka. Sophomores Gracie Hasenohrl of Auburndale and Aubrey Puent of Newman Catholic also made the all-defensive team.
Diethelm on second team
Athens senior Danica Diethelm was awarded second team all-Marawood North Conference this season. She was the lone Athens player to be recognized.
Prentice senior Kali Heikkinen was a unanimous first team all-Marawood North election for the third straight season and was awarded conference player of the year this season. Austin Edwards of Rib Lake was named conference coach of the year.
BATTLING ON THE BLOCK - Marathon junior Emma Love is defended in the post by Stratford junior Tria Tubbs in the teams’ first matchup this season. Both Love and Tubbs earned second team all-Marawood South Conference this season.
