Hornets have season end at the hands of Marathon

Cadott tore through the competition in the first round of playoffs, before heading off to face a tough team.

Feb. 25 vs. Abbotsford Regional (W54-21)

The No. 6 Hornets were pumped to host the beginning action of the post-season and that showed on the court, as Abbotford came to call as the No. 11 seed. Cadott held the opposition to just four points in the first half and while they allowed Abbotsford to score a bit more in the second part of the game, it wasn’t even a contest.

Cadott claimed the win, 54-21, to advance to the second round of Regionals.

Junior Taylor Hager led for the Hornets, with 14 points, followed by senior Tarynn Donahue, with 12, and junior Kennedy Nerdrum, with 10. Seniors Brooklyn Hrdlicka and Kasey Moldrem added 5 points to the mix, while sophomore Ava Eiler and freshman Sophie Kowalczyk each chipped in with 4.

Nerdrum also snagged 15 rebounds, while Eiler had 7, with Hager notching 6 assists and Hrdlicka contributing 6 steals.

Feb. 28 vs. Marathon Regional (L 56-28)

A few days later, Cadott packed up and headed to No. 3 Marathon, for the second round of Regional action, but the Hornets struggled in the game,

Marathon held them to only 17 points in the first half and after the break, the offense only added 11 points on the board. In the end, the Hornets had to concede defeat, 56-28, putting a cap to the season.

Hager again led, with 13 points, while Nerdrum had 10, with Donahue adding 3 and senior McKenna Steinke getting in the books with 2 points.
