By Ginna Young
The Cornell-Lake Holcombe-Gilman boys wrestlers made their way to Edgar, Feb. 15, for Regional competition, where sophomore Taydyn Angell once more saw success on the mat.
Angell (215 pounds) made his way through the bracket, to take the first place win over Jack Steinmeyer, of Spring Valley-Elmwood, by fall, in 2:57, becoming Regional champion and advancing to Sectionals.
Taking fifth place, but not qualifying to move on, was senior Preston Fredrickson (150), who won over Edgar’s Austin Schreiber, in a 1:02 fall.
Not placing, were sophomore Lucas Halida (132); junior Sawyer Winger (157); and senior Lee Zagorski (285).
Angell will now compete for a chance to advance to State, Feb. 22, at the Ladysmith Sectional.
