By Ginna Young Two tough conference opponents came to call on the Cadott’s boys basketball program, along with one from out of the league.

Feb. 4 vs. Stanley-Boyd conference (L 68-53) Cadott saw rival Stanley-Boyd come to call, with the game close in the first half. The Hornets were only down by five after the break, but Stanley-Boyd opened it up in the second part of the game, taking the win, 68-53.

Senior Parker Davis led the way, with 20 points, followed by junior Asher Sikora, with 10, while senior Braden Schneider recorded 8. Seniors Cameron Allard and Blane Mengel were right behind, with 6 points, with junior Aiden Rykal adding 3.

Feb. 7 vs. McDonell conference (L 72-54) Before the weekend hit, the Hornets hosted McDonell, but the score got away from Cadott in the first half, with the Macks up by 10 at the break. It went much the same way in the second half and McDonell claimed the win, 7254.

Schneider came up big for Cadott, with 22 points – 9 of those from three-point shots, while Allard added 9 points. Davis chipped in with 6 points and junior Collin Kowalczyk knocked down two shots from beyond the arc.

Mengel was right behind, with 5 points, while Rykal had 4 and Sikora rounded it out with 2.

Feb. 10 vs. Athens non-conference (W 73-58) Finally, Cadott had Athens pay a visit and everything seemed to go the home team’s way in the first half, taking a 13-point lead into halftime. The match tightened up in the second half, but thanks to the large lead, the Hornets held on, for a 73-58 victory.

Schneider had a good night, with 19 points, while Allard was on fire from three-point land, notching 15 points, with 12 of them from long range. Mengel and senior Jackson Barone each added 12 points, with Sikora chipping in with 2.

“We had a really good balanced scoring attack tonight,” said coach Shawn Schoezel.

Brian Strzok, Lake Holcombe senior, pulled up short, confusing his Birchwood opponent, in a conference home game, Jan. 31.
