SCG takes 4th at conference tournament, earns 4 individual 1st-place finishes

Spencer-Columbus Catholic-Granton (SCG) hosted the Cloverbelt Conference Tournament at home in Spencer, held last Friday instead of Saturday due to the impending snowstorm. SCG placed fourth out of nine teams, earning 157.5 points. Regis/Altoona just edged them out, coming in third with 158.5 points. Neillsville-Greenwood-Loyal (NGL) took second with 162 points and Cadott was first at 246 points.

Four wrestlers won the bracket for their weight class to be declared conference champions: Jakob Soback, Wyatt Karl, Azariah Hoffmann, and Anna Becker. Individual results are as follows (listed by weight class).

GIRLS 145 Hoffmann (28-4) placed first.

He won by fall over Hanson after a long match (3:17) and went on to place fourth for SCG in the 157-pound class. At right, Austyn Widmann gets Aiden Poirer of Bloomer-Colfax in a headlock as he tries to exhaust his opponent. Widmann lost by a 15-10 decision in this round of competition, but went on to place sixth for SCG.
