Chiefs fall to league teams

By Ginna Young

Cornell’s boys basketball program faced off with two tough opponents over the week, but were unable to come up with a win.

Jan. 28 vs. New Auburn conference (L 80-53)

To begin the week, Cornell was in action at home, against New Auburn. Right off the bat, the Chiefs fell behind early and couldn’t catch up, with New Auburn claiming the victory, 80-53.

Sophomores Bryce DeJongh and Eddie Woodford led with 12 points each, while senior Hunter Anders had 10 points. Sophomore Wesley Smith followed that up with 6 points and junior Zech Schmidt added 2.

Jan. 31 vs. Flambeau conference (L 80-45)

The Chiefs were then off to Flambeau, but again, scoring was an issue and the game went to the home team, 80-45.

Cornell is now 1-15 on the year and 1-8 in the East Lakeland Conference.
