Chieftains go down in a close Prairie Farm match
By Ginna Young
It was off to Prairie Farm, Jan. 24, for the Lake Holcombe boys basketball program, which led to back-and-forth scoring in the non-conference bout.
“…[It] was tight until the last couple of minutes,” said coach Dave Engel.
Prairie Farm dominated the boards, which gave them second chance shots and sophomore Connor Kane rolled his ankle with six minutes left in the game for Lake Holcombe, giving the opposing team more opportunities. Unfortunately, the Chieftains couldn’t pull out the win and the home team took the win, 66-54.
Sophomore Emmit Johnson led for his team, with 18 points, followed by Kane and freshman Kyle Heidtke, who added 11 points each. Senior Brian Strzok came next, with 8 points, while junior Brody Miller and sophomore Evin Tainter each had 2.
