By Ginna Young It’s not something that happens every day and when it falls at home, in front of family, friends and community members, it makes it all the more special. That something, is scoring the 1,000th career point in a basketball game. The feat was accomplished Jan. 17, by Lake Holcombe senior Brian Strzok, at home, as the team hosted Flambeau, in an East Lakeland Conference battle. While some athletes have no idea they are about to reach the 1,000th mark, Strzok knew exactly how many he needed. “I kind of kept track the whole season,” said Strzok. In front of fans, who waited with baited breath, Strzok was fouled with about a minute left in the game, sending him to the line in the single bonus. “I was one point away at the time,” said Strzok. The shot fell and the game was stopped, as the crowd saluted Strzok for the accomplishment, and he received congratulations from teammates and family. Strzok had about 15-20 people in the stands, who came just to see him reach the milestone. “It was pretty nice,” he said. “Not many people get it, so I know I’m lucky to have a chance to get it.”
