Cadott can’t get the best of the week’s opponents

By Ginna Young It just wasn’t the Cadott girls basketball program’s week, as two strong West Cloverbelt Conference teams claimed the win. Jan. 14 vs. Fall Creek conference (L 73-29) The Hornets were at home, to face off with Fall Creek, but the visitors came ready to play, racking up a 22-point lead going into halftime. The second half, offensive woes continued to plague Cadott and the game went to the Crickets, 73-29. Despite that, junior Kennedy Nerdrum had a good night, recording 17 points, while junior Taylor Hager came up with 7. Senior McKenna Steinke followed that up with 3 points, with senior Tarynn Donahue chipping in with 2. Jan. 17 vs. Bloomer conference (L 64-44) A few days later, the Hornets were off to Bloomer and kept the score close in the first half, but in the second, the Blackhawks pulled away, to take a 64-44 win over Cadott. Nerdrum again led, this time, with 10 points, with Donahue and Hager right behind, with 9 each. Junior Lilly Spaeth came next, with 6 points, while senior Brooklyn Hrdlicka and sophomore Ava Eiler each contributed 5. Nerdrum also led in rebounds, with 9, while senior Kasey Moldrem ended with 5, while Hager had 4 assists and 2 steals. The Hornets now sit at 7-8 on the season and 2-5 in the league.
