Tiger wrestlers third

Stratford’s varsity wrestling team took third place with 425.5 points among 20 squads at Saturday’s Wausau East Lumberjack Invitational. Mineral Point, which is ranked No. 2 in Division 3 by Wisconsin Grappler, won the championship with 466.5 points. Auburndale was runner-up with 447 points. Marathon placed sixth with 325.5 points.
Tigers senior wrestler Carter Lueck, 321, achieved his 150th high school career win during the Lumberjack Invitational. He won the 190-pound weight class. Stratford senior Trenton Cournoyer, 39-2, won the 120-pound weight class and sophomore Aaron Knetter, 33-8, won the 132pound weight class.
Stratford junior Colin Cournoyer, 33-3, took third place in the 126-pound weight class and junior Lucas Forrest, 27-11, placed third at 138 pounds. Junior Matthias Kaiser, 31-6, placed fourth at 150 pounds.
Tigers junior Drew Gage, 33-7, took fifth place in the 285-pound weight class and senior Matt Kolb, 13-7, placed sixth at 215 pounds. Freshman Jayden DeFoe placed seventh at 113 pounds.
Stratford senior Cayden Leonhardt, 2016, took eighth place in the 144-pound weight class, junior Brandon Knetter, 8-9, placed eighth at 157 pounds and sophomore John Mews, 11-12, was eighth at 165. Senior Jack Tubbs, 25-9, placed 14th at 175 pounds.

Marathon junior Blake Underwood, 340, won the 113-pound weight class. Freshman Taylor Underwood, 33-3, took third place in the 106-pound weight class. Junior Cale Quaintance, 34-4, placed fourth at 126 pounds, senior Levi Krautkramer, 9-4, placed fourth at 138, junior Swayne Stencil, 37-6, placed fourth at 144 and junior Tate Sonnentag, 29-4, placed fourth at 157.

Pittsville Triangular
Marathon’s varsity wrestling squad dominated both its opponents at Thursday’s Pittsville Triangular. Marathon beat New Lisbon, 66-6. Red Raiders gaining pins were Taylor Underwood at 106 pounds, Tourtillott at 150 and Salber at 165.
The Red Raiders also beat the Pittsville Panthers, 63-6. Marathon wrestlers gaining pins were Ostrowski at 175 pounds, Lawrence at 190, Blake Underwood at 113 and Sonnentag at 157. Quaintance won a 17-2 technical fall at 132 pounds, Krautkramer won a 19-3 technical fall at 138 and Stencil won an 18-2 technical fall at 144.
Tomahawk Triangular
The Athens varsity wrestling squad competed at Thursday’s Tomahawk Triangular. Head coach Jodi Gauerke said Athens beat Mosinee, 31-30. He said Athens lost to Tomahawk.
Brawl at the Bear’s Den
Edgar and Stratford girl wrestlers competed at the recent Brawl at the Bear’s Den in Bonduel. Edgar sophomore Blaynne Crawford, 21-5, took second place at 120 pounds; senior Alyson Kolano, 8-12, placed fourth at 165; freshman Vanessa Czech, 7-11, placed fourth at 235; freshman Adeline Peterson, 15-9, placed fifth at 100; freshman Ashley Krause, 8-6, didn’t place at 114 and sophomore Alyssa Kolano, 9-12, didn’t place at 138.
Stratford freshman Wynn Schoenherr, 12-9, took third place at 132 pounds; sophomore Dakota Knetter, 14-8, placed fourth at 114 and junior Hailey Fecker, 03, didn’t place at 100.
