Cadott remains unbeaten in the league duals so far
By Ginna Young Success continues to come Cadott’s way, for their boys wrestling program, as they are now unbeaten in dual conference action.
Jan. 16 Regis Dual (W 2-1) The Hornets were on the road at Regis, to begin the week, where they captured the win to remain undefeated in the conference. Cadott’s only challenge was Osceola, who got the victory over them, 43-36, while the Hornets won big over Stanley-Boyd, 58-18, and Regis-Altoona, 43-24.
“I was extremely proud of our athletes Thursday evening,” said coach Josh Spaeth. “They wrestled as a team and put forth a great effort to knock off a very good Regis-Altoona team.”
Jan. 18 Ladysmith Tournament It was then off to Ladysmith, where the wrestlers saw some high placings from the day.
“Great effort by all,” said Spaeth. Taking top honors, was freshman Max Davis (144 pounds), who won in the finals over Chequamegon’s Skylar Otteson, with a 12-3 major decision, while Junee Niblet (215) also placed first, winning over Noah Nee, of Eau Claire Memorial, by fall, in 3:41. Senior Kaleb Lodahl (120) followed that up with second place, dropping the championship match to Stratford’s Trenton Cournoyers.
Placing third, was freshman Kellen Blanchette (132), winning over Osceola’s Hunter Kromrey, as well as Jimmy Carranza (190) and senior Adam Glenz (285). Following that up with fifth place, were freshman Ryker Moskiewicz (106) and sophomore Jon Phelps (150), while junior Monte Lodahl (138), freshman Oliver Sudbrink (144) and sophomore Owen Fasbender (157) were all in sixth.
Coming away with seventh place, were junior Steven Williams (126), sophomore Brock Webster (190) and junior Mitchell Reineke (215).
“Our young team continues to work hard and is competing well, against some of the best teams in the state,” said Spaeth.
