Wrestlers compete in weekend tournaments

Edgar varsity girl wrestlers competed at Saturday’s Wausau West Warrior Women’s Challenge.
Wildcats sophomore Blaynne Crawford took seventh place in the 120-pound Gold bracket. Freshman Adeline Peterson placed first in the 100-pound Silver bracket. Freshman Vanessa Czech placed second in the 235pound Silver bracket and senior Alyson Kolano placed fifth in the 165-pound Silver bracket. Sophomore Alyssa Krause and freshman Ashley Krause didn’t place.
‘Cat boys at Chi-Hi
Edgar junior Lucas Stahnke took second place in the 190pound weight class at Saturday’s Chi-Hi Wrestling Invitational in Chippewa Falls. Sophomore Isaiah Kraft placed third at 126 pounds and freshman Parker Albrecht placed fifth at 106. Senior Austin Schreiber placed eighth at 150 pounds and sophomore Tyler Schmidt was eighth at 144. Mason Strampe placed ninth at 157 pounds and Brendan Imhoff was 12th at 120.
‘Jays at Ladysmith
Athens freshman Jendry Cruz-Perez took third place in the girls 100-pound weight class in Saturday’s Ladysmith tournament, while junior Taylor Hein placed third in the girls 120/126-pound weight class.

Tigers at Ladysmith tourney
Stratford’s varsity boys wrestling team finished as runner-up with 545.50 points at Saturday’s Ladysmith Invitational. Weyauwega-Fremont, which Wisconsin Grappler has ranked No. 1 in Division 3 this season, won the tournament championship with 570.5 points. The following six Tigers took first place in their weight brackets: sophomore Kolton Haupt at 106 pounds, senior Trenton Cournoyer at 120, junior Colin Cournoyer at 126, sophomore Aaron Knetter at 132, senior Carter Lueck at 190 and junior Drew Gage at 285.
