Strzok helps teammates win over visiting Raiders

By Ginna Young

Lake Holcombe hosted Bruce, for a boys basketball match, Jan. 7, with the conference foe trying to hold down senior Brian Strzok. However, the Chieftains were ready for them and adjusted to whatever the Raiders threw at them, using Strzok to capture Bruce’s attention from his teammates.

“Brian continued to dice their defense and facilitate easy baskets to his teammates,” said coach Dave Engel.

Thanks to their strategizing, the Chieftains claimed a 63-52 victory, with Strzok finishing with 16 assists, while sophomore Emmit Johnson collected an impressive 31 points – 12 of those from beyond the arc – and a double-double. Freshman Kyle Heidtke was also on fire from three-point range, coming up with 11 points.

Sophomore Conner Kane and junior Brody Miller each added 8 points in the win.

“It’s not often that you get to see a player be so unselfish and make his teammates better like Brian did tonight,” said Engel.
