Kicking off the archery season, the Lake Holcombe program was in action at Stanley-Boyd, Jan. 11, for a multi-team shoot.

“I was happy with how the archers performed at the first tournament of the season,” said coach Ashley Carothers. “There were quite a few personal best records set.

Taking top honors, was freshman Andrea Friedman, with 279, followed by junior Brody Miller, who scored 260, while senior MacKenzie Bera had 254. Senior Jordanna Brown followed that up with a score of 234, with sophomore Donovan Bera right behind, with 233.

Seventh grader Dylon Richards came next, shooting a 220, while sophomore Trevor Tripp had 215, eighth grader Aleigha Richards notched a score of 205 and seventh grader Logan Hoffner finished with 204.

“The first tournament is always the tournament that lets you see where you are as an archer and lets the newer archers learn how to perform under pressure,” said Carothers. “With the motivation that these archers have, you expect to see bigger numbers in the coming tournaments. We are going to build on this momentum and continue to improve throughout the season.”
