Panthers did not stand a chance against Chieftains

By Ginna Young

Lake Holcombe played host to East Lakeland Conference foe Prairie Farm, for a match Dec. 10, in which the boys’ program dominated the competition. The visiting team came out of the gate, playing man-to-man, but senior Brian Strzok wasn’t having any of it.

“They were unable to stop him from getting to the paint, and either scoring or finding a dump-down,” said coach Dave Engel.

That forced the Panthers into their 1-3-1 zone, but Strzok again dictated how the game was going to be played, by slowing down the pace of play.

“I was proud to watch Brian take command of the court and the game,” said Engel.

Prairie Farm was unable to adjust and the Chieftains reeled in a 52-36 win.

“Emmit Johnson added some great defense, creating some fast break opportunities and Conner Kane was crashing the boards hard,” said Engel.

Johnson, sophomore, finished with 15 points, with Strzok right behind, with 14, followed by junior Brody Miller, with 11 and the sophomore Kane with 10. Senior Trent Lee rounded out the scoring with 2 points.

Lake Holcombe sits at 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the league.
