Offense gets job done for Cadott over Cornell

By Ginna Young

In a match-up Dec. 5, the Cadott girls basketball program hosted Cornell, in a non-conference bout. The Hornets’ offense was alive and well, along with a strong defense, holding Cornell to just eight points in the first half, taking a 21-point lead into the break.

The second half looked much the same and Cadott claimed victory, 60-21.

“Again, we struggled offensively to put points up,” said Cornell coach Stacy Schroeder.

Leading in scoring for Cadott, was junior Taylor Hager, who finished with 20 points, followed by senior Kasey Moldrem, with 14. Senior Tarynn Donahue came next, with 9 points, while senior Brooklyn Hrdlicka had 7. Junior Lilly Spaeth and sophomore Ava Eiler each added 4 points, and freshman Sophie Kowalczyk chipped in with 2.

For Cornell, sophomore Haylee Ellis led with 16 points, with senior Alyssa Bowe hitting a three-pointer and senior Bralee Schroeder knocking in a pair of freethrows.

“We are seeing what we need to improve on,” said S. Schroeder. “Moving forward, we just need to keep working hard and improving each game.”
