Cadott starts slow, but finishes the week strong

The Cadott girls basketball program had a busy week ahead of them, going up against a trio of tough opponents.

Dec. 3 vs. Bloomer conference (L 73-39)

Hosting Bloomer, the Hornets fell behind in the first half, down by 13 at halftime. which set the tone for the rest of the match. The second half also saw Cadott struggling to score and in the end, the Blackhawks walked away with a 73-39 win.

Junior Taylor Hager nonetheless had a good night, scoring 24 points, while fellow junior Kennedy Nerdrum had 4. Senior Kasey Moldrem and junior Lilly Spaeth each hit a three-pointer, with senior Brooklyn Hrdlicka adding 3 points.

Freshman Sophie Kowlaczyk chipped in with 2 points, while senior Tarynn Donahue nabbed 6 rebounds and Moldrem came up with 5.

Dec. 6 vs. Thorp conference (W 56-31)

A few days later, the Hornets were in action on the road at Thorp, and this time, the offense was ready to play. Cadott took a 12-point lead into the break and never looked back, continuing to outscore the Cardinals in the second half, to take a 56-31 victory.

Hager and Donahue each notched 13 points, while Hrdlicka had 11, followed by Moldrem and Spaeth, with 8 and 7 points, respectively. Sophomore Ava Eiler and freshman Breanna Freed each chipped in with 2 points.

Hager collected 8 assists on the night, with Donahue pulling down 7 rebounds, while Hrdlicka had 6. Hager also had 9 steals and Spaeth came up with 7.

Dec. 7 vs. Spring Valley non-conference (W 52-38)

Finally, Cadott headed to Colfax, to take on Spring Valley, in a weekend game. The first half was evenly matched, with the Hornets leading by a slim two-point margin, but in the second half, Cadott pulled out ahead to push past their opponents, 52-38.

Hager led on the day, with 16 points, followed by Donahue, with 11. Hager also came up with 4 assists and Donahue was right behind, with 3, while Moldrem had 7 rebounds, with Kowalczyk bringing down 6. Hager also ended with 8 steals.
