On November 2, at 1:41 a.m. a vehicle operated by Donavon Acker, 22, of Medford, was southbound on CTH Q in the town of Medford, when it entered the west ditch, striking a driveway embankment and continuing striking a mailbox at N3573 CTH Q owned by Nicole Jari. The vehicle then overturned several times before coming to a rest facing a northerly direction on its drivers side. According to the crash report, Acker was not using a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle and was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics with suspected serious injuries. Acker was cited for operating while under the influence, non-registration of auto, and failure to keep vehicle under control. The vehicle, a green 2001 Ford Mustang Coupe, was towed with disabling damage. CTH Q was closed from 1:50 a.m. until 3:03 a.m. as law enforcement, tow truck, fire and ambulance vehicles responded. REPORTS One vehicle crash

On October 27, at 4:18 a.m., law enforcement was notified of a crash on CTH M in the town of Hammel. According to the crash report, the vehicle operated by Amber Webster, 30, of Gilman, was traveling westbound on CTH M at an unknown time when a deer jumped onto the roadway. Webster swerved the vehicle to avoid hitting the deer. The vehicle crossed into the opposite lane of travel and continued driving until it started to enter the ditch on the north side of the roadway. The operator failed to maintain control of the vehicle as it entered the ditch. The vehicle rolled over onto its roof and struck a tree. There were no apparent injuries reported and the vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Webster was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control.

On October 26, at 4:59 p.m., a vehicle operated by Pedro Cisneros Alvarado, 29, of Medford, was traveling southbound on Ruby Drive 216 feet south of CTH O. The vehicle tuned southbound off CTH O and according to the crash report was being driven in a s-shaped pattern. Passenger, Mikayla Carter, 20, of Hastings, Minn. told deputies that the driver “was playing around” and was “swerving on purpose.” The vehicle then drove into the west ditch of Ruby Dr. causing the vehicle to roll over. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. No injuries were reported. The driver was cited for operating without a valid license and for reckless driving-endangering safety.

On October 25, at 11:40 a.m., a vehicle operated by Colin Irwin, 16, of Gilman, was traveling northbound on River Road in the town of Aurora. According to the crash report, Irwin advised that a deer entered the road from the east. The driver swerved into the eastern ditch. After entering the ditch the vehicle rolled. Neither the driver nor the passenger, Frank Weir, 15, of Gilman, were wearing seatbelts. The passenger was ejected from the vehicle through the windshield and landed to the east of where the vehicle came to rest. Both the driver and passenger were issued citations for lack of seatbelts. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Irwin was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics with suspected minor injures and Weir was transported by helicopter to Marshfield Medical Center with suspected serious injuries.

Hit and run

On October 30, Medford police received a report of a hit and run crash at 1010 N. 8th Street. A vehicle owned by Tessa Brandner, 28, of Medford, was legally parked in the Walmart parking lot. A second vehicle began backing out of the stalls and stopped where the damage was found on Brandner’s truck. According to video footage cited in the crash report, the driver of the second vehicle exited the vehicle, looked and got back into the vehicle and left the scene. Based on vehicle evidence it appears the second vehicle’s door opened while backing causing damage to Brander’s vehicle. According to the report, the video was not clear enough to identify the vehicle or occupants.

Pedestrian struck

On October 31 at about 6 p.m., a vehicle operated by Daniel Iwinski, 53, of Medford, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 64 in the city of Medford, when he attempted to turn northbound on 4th St. While turning, Iwinski struck a pedestrian, Coll J. Fox, 41, of Medford, who was northbound in the crosswalk. Contact was made with both parties. Fox advised he was sore, but did not sustain any injuries. Iwinski advised that his vehicle was not damaged in the accident. Iwinski advised officers he was not sure if he struck Fox or not, but said he witnessed Fox drop his phone and gave him money to buy a new phone.

Car vs. deer crashes

On November 2, at 5:19 p.m., a vehicle operated by Kent Graffunder, 51, of Abbotsford, struck a deer while traveling eastbound on CTH F in the town of Roosevelt. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

On November 2, at 9:55 a.m., a vehicle operated by Dennis Cypher, 65, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling eastbound on CTH M in the town of Hammel. The vehicle received functional damage.

On November 2, at 6:50 a.m., a vehicle operated by Rhiannan Swanson, 16, of Prentice, struck a deer while traveling southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Medford. The vehicle received functional damage.

On November 1, at 7:20 a.m., a vehicle operated by Ryan Oates, 41, of Rib Lake, struck a deer while traveling northbound on CTH C in the town of Rib Lake. The vehicle received functional damage.

On October 31, at 7:03 a.m., a vehicle operated by Rita Niznik, 68, of Lublin, struck a deer while traveling west-bound on CTH F in the town of Roosevelt. The vehicle sustained functional damage.

On October 29, at 6:19 p.m., a vehicle operated by Jennifer Rithmiller, 26, of Owen, struck a deer while traveling westbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Hammel. The vehicle sustained functional damage.

On October 26, at 9:24 a.m., a vehicle operated by Jacob Haavisto, 21, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling northbound on Hwy 13 in the city of Medford. The vehicle sustained functional damage.
