One vehicle crash
CRASH REPORTS
On October 21, at 5:30 a.m., a semi with trailer operated by Norman Kurtz, 26, of Colby, struck a cow while traveling northbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Chelsea. The vehicle struck the cow in the northbound lane and then entered the ditch and struck a driveway embankment and came to rest over the driveway.
On October 17, at 11 p.m., a vehicle operated by Sawyer Elsner, 16, of Medford, was driving westbound on Mulberry Lane in the town of Medford. The driver lost control and ended up driving into the north ditch of Mulberry. There was a 16-year-old passenger in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Elsner was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control.
On October 23, at 12:20 p.m., a vehicle operated by Richard Studinger, 65, of Medford, was legally parked street side on State Street, just west of Whelen Ave. facing eastbound in the city of Medford. A vehicle operated by M. Lynne Wojner, 83, of Abbotsford, was westbound on State St. and conducted a u-turn on State street to face eastbound. During the turn maneuver, the right front corner of the Wojner vehicle struck the left front corner of the Studinger vehicle.
On October 18, at 5:09 p.m., a vehicle operated by Jason Lang, 48, of Medford, was backing out of a parking space located on the west side of the S. Main Street alley. Lang’s vehicle was facing westbound and traveling eastbound as it backed out of the parking space. A vehicle operated by Becky Heser, 63, of Medford, was traveling northbound in the alley looking for a specific residence. She thought she passed the residence so she began backing up in a southbound direction, striking the rear passenger side of the Lang vehicle with the rear of her vehicle. An additional pickup truck was parked in the parking space immediately north of the Lang vehicle. According to the crash report, both drivers stated the additional pickup blocked their visibility of the other unit. After speaking with both drivers, Lang attempted to start his vehicle but it would not start. He stated he believed this was because the door was left open and the battery died. He did not believe it was caused from the crash. Lang’s vehicle received minor damage and there was no damage to the Heser vehicle.
On October 15, a 12:20 p.m., a semi with trailer operated by Frank Fabian, 63, of Greenwood, and a tractor owned by Christopher Hargot of Withee and operated by James Sweda, 48, of Owen, were northbound on CTH DD. The tractor was further north and was slowing to prepare to turn into a field access drive. Sweda used an arm signal as neither the tractor or the trailer it was pulling had indictors. Fabian saw that Sweda was slowing and went to pass the tractor while in a passing zone. Sweda began to make the turn, then observed Fabian attempting to overtake him. Sweda swerved to the west and Fabian swerved to the east to avoid collision. The bucket on the front of the tractor struck the front passenger corner of Fabian’s semi and then continued down the passenger side of the trailer, causing a rear tire to puncture. Sweda’s vehicle was removed form the roadway immediately into the field and the semi with trailer was parked in a parking lot north of the scene until assistance could arrive to remove the unit.
