Tridents focus on details to win races in the pools

In their last dual meet of the year, the Lake Holcombe-Ladysmith-Flambeau-Bruce-Bloomer swimmers were at Tomahawk, Oct. 17, taking an 86-73 win home with them.
Starting out with the 200-yard medley relay, juniors Megan DeWitt and Liv Repka, and seniors Sarah Allard and Alyxandria Lunemann came in first, while the B Team (juniors Lyra Moffitt and Abby Fye, and sophomore Nayeli Schilling and Sidney Heath) finished in third place.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Schilling placed first and De-Witt was third, while in the 200-yard indvidual medley, Allard was first, Lunemann placed in third and Repka finished in fourth. Moving to the 50-yard freestyle, Heath ended in a very close second, with sophomore Brooklyn Adisek in fifth and junior Willow Peterson right behind for sixth.
Fye claimed second in the 100-yard butterfly, with Lunemann coming in second, in the 100-yard freestyle, while Heath took third and Peterson was sixth. The 500yard freestyle was exciting to watch, as Allard claimed first place and Schilling took second.
The 200-yard freestyle saw Fye, Moffitt, Heath and Repka end in second place, with Team B (Adisek, senior Ella Burr, Ellie Heath and Peterson) in fourth. In the 100-backstroke, DeWitt placed second, Moffit finished in third and Adisek was fourth.
The last individual event of the evening, was the 100yard breaststroke, with the finish coming down to a 10th of a second, with Repka placing second. The final event at the meet, was the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Team A of Lunemann, Allard, DeWitt and Schilling taking first place.
“As we are entering championships, the team will be focusing on the small details of each race,” said coach Whitney Hanson. “The coaches are very proud of the team, the sportsmanship and how hard each swimmer has worked this season; we are excited to see it pay off during the final two championship meets.”
