By Ginna Young Cadott was on the road, Oct. 11, in a Lakeland Conference football game at Chetek-Weyerhaeuser. The home team struck first, with two touchdowns in the first quarter, but Cadott scored a touchdown in the second.

“We have a very young secondary and it ended up showing a bit on Friday night,” said coach Todd Rykal.

The Bulldogs continued to score, adding another six points before halftime. In the second half, Cadott held their opponents to just 13 points, but were unable to add to their own score, so Chetek still claimed the 33-7 win.

“Another tough loss,” said Rykal. We played a good Chetek-Weyerhaeuser team, very tough, but we just gave up too many big plays through the air.

On passing, freshman Jake Weeks was six of 12, with 80 yards and an interception, while junior Aiden Rykal had 4 receptions , for 72 yards. Senior Blane Mengel came up with a reception, with 4 yards, as did freshman Kellen Blanchette.

In rushing, Blanchette ended with 30 yards, followed by senior Warren Bowe, who had 25 yards and scored a touchdown, while A. Rykal finished with 12 yards and junior Gavin Roscoe added 10 yards.

“I think the score doesn’t represent well the way we played,” said T. Rykal. “We are getting valuable experience, though, and the guys continue to fight.”

Cornell junior Blake Baker set himself, as a defender prepared to rush, Oct. 11, in a Homecoming game against Alma Center-Lincoln.
