Chieftains can’t take out New Auburn squad

In their lone game of the week, Lake Holcombe was off to New Auburn, Sept. 26, for a conference volleyball match-up.
“The team played VERY well this time, against New Auburn,” said coach Beth Meddaugh. “It was awesome to see so much improvement from the beginning of the season.”
In the first set, the Chieftains battled hard, but saw New Auburn take the win, 25-20, while the second set wasn’t so close, going to the Trojans, 25-15. Lake Holcombe put a scare into the home team, making the third and final set, 25-21, but the 3-0 shutout victory went to New Auburn.
“Junior Faith Heinzen did an awesome job stepping into the role of libero for the first time against New Auburn and junior Alexia Hoffner also went to a new spot on the outside,” said Meddaugh.
Heinzen and Hoffner led in digs, with 13 each, while senior Emmy Kirkman had 6 kills and senior Chloe Lee ended with 5 kills. Lee also had 8 assists.
“I’d like to see the girls continue to improve the offense, as we get the second half of the season under way,” said Meddaugh.
