Hosting a dual meet at home, the Lake Holcombe-Ladysmith-Flambeau-Bruce-Bloomer swimmers were in action against Mosinee, Sept. 26.
“With the Trident team having four swimmers out this meet, the coaches were very pleased with how the team stepped up, maintaining a positive mindset and cheered one another on,” said coach Whitney Hanson.
Taking part in the first event, was the 200-yard medley relay A Team of juniors Megan DeWitt, Abby Fye and Liv Repka, and senior Sarah Allard, who placed first. In the individual events, the 200-yard individual freestyle saw senior Alyxandria Lunemann come in first, with DeWitt in second.
Allard also placed first in the 200-yard individual medley and junior Lyra Moffitt was second in that event, with a best time this season. Moving to the 50-yard freestyle, Repka placed second, while junior Willow Peterson finished fourth and freshman Ellie Heath came in fifth.
The 100-yard butterfly ended with Fye in first place, with a best time this season, while Lunemann claimed second place. Next up, the 100-yard freestyle had sophomore Sidney Heath finishing in first, setting a best time this season, while sophomore Brooklyn Adisek came in second and E. Heath was fourth.
Onto the 500-yard freestyle event, where Allard took first, with a best time this season, of 6:02.11. The 200yard freestyle relay was a close race, for first coming down to the final touch, with the Team A relay (Repka, Adisek, S. Heath and Lunemann) capturing first place.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Moffitt finished second, with another best time this season, while in the 100-yard breaststroke, Repka finished first, with Fye coming in second. The final race of the night was the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Team A of S. Heath, DeWitt, Fye and Allard taking first.
The team also had parents’ night Thursday, to thank the swimmers’ parents for their support and all the volunteer work they put in to keep things running for the team. Hanson says the community is grateful to have great parents and what they provide to athletic programs.
“The Tridents have been putting a lot of miles in the pool and working on building their endurance, it’s exciting to see that paying off,” said Hanson.” The coaches are excited to see how the next six meets go, leading up to championships and will continue to push the team each week, until the end of the season.”
