Cadott was pumped for their Homecoming football match on the Hornets’ field Sept. 27, facing off with non-conference foe Spring Valley. However, the Cardinals were just as pumped to act as spoiler for Cadott’s big night, jumping out to a touchdown run in just the first few seconds of the game.

The Hornets tried valiantly to regroup, but Spring Valley continued to score, taking home with them, a 28-0 victory.

“Tough loss for us last night,” said coach Todd Rykal. On passing, junior Aidan Rykal went 2 for 8, with 8 yards and an interception, while on receiving, sophomore Riley Winchel had a reception, with 8 yards.

Leading on rushing, was senior Warren Bowe, who had 10 rushes and 27 yards, followed by freshman Kellen Blanchette, with 7 rushes and 22 yards. Following that up, was sophomore Owen Fasbender, who had 6 rushes and 14 yards, while A. Rykal had 14 yards rushing, and junior Gavin Roscoe finished with 2 rushes, for 4 yards.

Cadott is now 1-5 overall and 0-3 in league play. “I felt our defense played much better and we are starting to see improvements on that side of the ball,” said T. Rykal, “but on offense, we just had too many turnovers and far too many penalties, so we never gave ourselves a chance to get rolling.”
