The best way to describe the Stratford varsity volleyball team’s play in Saturday’s Abby tournament is total domination. Stratford didn’t lose any sets in its matches against Rosholt, Spencer, Loyal, Abbotsford and Cadott to win the Abby tournament championship.

Stratford senior Kalyn Schueller, who has committed to play college volleyball at Division 2 UW-Parkside in Kenosha, led the Tigers with 32 attack kills in their five tournament matches. She also led Stratford with 13 ace serves and 46 digs.

Tigers senior Daisy Yoder paced the team with 10 blocks while adding 16 kills and eight aces. Junior Emily Zuelke had nine blocks and nine kills. Junior Tria Tubbs recorded eight blocks and seven kills. Senior Mckenzie Novotny collected 10 kills and 10 aces.

Senior setter Emerson Roy led the Tigers with 53 pass assists while senior setter Laney Pankratz added 25 assists.

Stratford’s volleyball team had a 24-3 match record on Monday and is ranked No. 4 in Division 3 in this week’s Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association (WVCA) poll.

Raiders play well in quad

Marathon’s varsity volleyball squad finished Thursday’s Tomahawk quad with a 2-1 record. Marathon beat Abbotsford, 2-0 and Tomahawk, 2-1. Marathon lost to Antigo, 2-1.

Junior Emma Love led Marathon with nine attack kills in the victory against Abbotsford. Senior setter Chenpieng Phakitthong paced the team with two ace serves and 13 digs. Sophomore Mayven Schneider led the Red Raiders with 12 pass assists against the Falcons. Junior Melee Haehlke had the team’s only solo block.

Senior Kyla Heise paced Marathon with 10 kills and 16 digs in the win against Tomahawk. Sophomore Kate Love added eight kills and Emma Love had five. Schneider led the Red Raiders with 13 pass assists and she had the team’s only solo block.

Emma Love led Marathon with eight kills in the team’s loss to Antigo while Kate Love and Heise added six kills apiece. Phakitthong paced the Red Raiders with three ace serves and 12 pass assists, while Schneider added 10 pass assists. Sisters Emma and Kate Love led the team with two block assists each. Heise paced the team with 16 digs and Kate Love had 10.

Marathon had a 19-7 match record on Monday and is ranked No. 7 in Division 3 in this week’s WVCA poll.
