A lot of hard work has gone on with the Lake Holcombe-Ladysmith-Flambeau-Bruce-Bloomer swim team, which helped them on their road trip to Lakeland Union, Sept. 19, for a dual meet. Although the Tridents fell to their foe, 98-61, they nonetheless had a great meet.

To begin, in the 200-yard medley relay, Team A (juniors Megan DeWitt and Liv Repka, senior Sarah Allard and sophomore Nayeli Schilling) took second place in the event, while Team B (juniors Lyra Moffitt and Abby Fye, senior Alyxandria Lunemann and sophomore Sidney Heath) placed fourth.

In the 200-yard individual freestyle, the race was on, with Heath finishing second and Repka claiming fourth. Schilling took third in the 200-yard individual medley, with a best time for this season, of 2:49.52, while finishing in fourth, was Moffitt. Fye placed second overall in the 50-yard freestyle, with junior Willow Peterson finishing fourth, with another best time this season.

Another successful race, was the 100-yard butterfly, where Allard came in first, with a season best time of 1:12.24, followed by Lunemann, who was third, a new season best of 1:21.63. In the 100-yard freestyle, Schilling finished second, with DeWitt in third and Moffitt coming in fifth. The 500-yard freestyle saw Fye place third overall, only five seconds off of her best ever time.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Team A swimmers of Dewitt, Repka, Heath and Allard, earned second place, dropping two seconds off their previous time, while Team B of Ellie Heath, seniors Ella Burr, junior Kiara Howard and Peterson, ended in fourth.

Next, in the 100-yard backstroke, Schilling took second and Moffitt was fourth. Repka also took second, in the 100-yard breaststroke, with a season best of 1:14.23. The final event of the night was the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Fye, Lunemann, Dewitt and Allard in second place, with a best time this season, of 4:22.40.

“Coming up on the seventh week of practice, the girls are halfway through season, the coaches are continuing to increase the training volume, improve on technique and continue to build endurance,” said coach Whitney Hanson.
