Hosting a weekend tournament, the Cadott volleyball program faced off with some different competition and gained valuable experience.

Sept. 14 vs. Luther (L 1-2)

First up on the day, was Luther, who quickly took the first set, 25-16. Cadott came back and won the second set, 25-12, but dropped the final set, 17-15.

Sept. 14 vs. Mondovi (W 2-0)

Next up, was Mondovi, who made the first set a close affair, 25-21, but couldn’t beat Cadott, who also took the second set, 25-11.

Sept. 14 vs. Turtle Lake (W 2-0)

The Hornets then faced Turtle Lake, who proved no match in the first set, 25-11, but put a scare into Cadott in the second set. Cadott refused to go down and claimed a 27-25 win.

Sept. 14 vs. Unity (L 0-2)

Finally, Cadott went up against Unity, and while the Hornets battled until the end, the visitors took the sets, 25-21 and 25-22.

On the day, junior Haley Mathison had 32 kills, 4 aces, 12 digs and 7 blocks, while senior Kasey Moldrem ended with 21 kills. Junior Karlee Davis came away with 69 assists, 4 aces and 12 digs, and senior Rilei Weeks notched 29 digs and 6 aces.

“I saw a lot of growth as the day went along,” said coach Lynn Schreiner. “We had some players in positions they are not used to playing and they performed well. It was a good step forward, going into conference season.”
