By Ginna Young It was off to Rhinelander, Sept. 12, for the Lake Holcombe- Ladysmith-Flambeau-Bruce-Bloomer swimmers, as they competed in a dual meet.

The Tridents got off to a good start, a they placed second in the 200-yard medley relay A Team taking second, consisting of juniors Megan Dewitt and Liv Repka, senior Sarah Allard and sophomore Nayeli Schilling. Team B, with juniors Lyra Moffitt and Abby Fye, senior Alyxandria Lunemann and sophomore Brooklyn Adisek taking third in the event.

In the 200-yard individual freestyle, Schilling finished fourth, with sophomore Sidney Heath in fifth and Dewitt in sixth. Allard placed third in the 200-yard individual medley, while Lunemann was fourth. In the 50-yard freestyle, Fye took fourth overall and Adisek finished in fifth, while Lunemann was third in the 100-yard butterfly.

Fye finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle, holding a consistent time from her previous meet and Repka finished in fifth, with a best time this season. The 500-yard freestyle saw a great event, with Allard finishing second. In the 200-yard freestyle, Team A, of Dewitt, Repka, Fye and Schilling, taking third place.

In the 100-yard backstroke, DeWitt was fourth, with a best time this season, while Heath ended in fifth, with another best time this season and Moffitt was sixth. Repka finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke, holding a consistent time for the season.

The final event of the night was the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Team A (Schilling, Heath, Lunemann and Allard) taking third, while Team B (Moffitt, senior Ella Burr, junior Willow Peterson and Adisek) finishing fourth.

“With this meet being up against one of the toughest teams in our conference, the Trident coaches were very pleased with how the Tridents racing has improved over the past few weeks, and to see the girls positive energy on the pool deck,” said coach Whitney Hanson. “Overall, the girls improved in a lot of races from the previous weeks, and have been putting in the work to continue to improve each week.”

Senior Alyxandria Luneman sent powerful strokes through the water at home for her Lake Holcombe-Ladysmith-Flambeau-Bruce-Bloomer team Sept. 5, in the 500-yard freestyle, against Colby-Abbotsford.
