Hornets downed by Eagles

By Ginna Young

Cadott’s football program packed up and headed to Unity, ready to go, for a conference bout Sept. 6, but the powerhouse Eagles had their own ideas of how the night would play out. Cadott was held to just six points, while Unity racked up 48 on the scoreboard for the win.

“We were only down by 12 at [the] half, but turnovers and big plays were what ended up losing our game,” said coach Todd Rykal. “Tough loss.”

Leading on rushing, was senior Warren Bowe, with 20, for 91 yards, while sophomore Owen Fasbender had 29 yards and junior Aiden Rykal rushed for 5 yards. A. Rykal was 0-8 on passing, recording 2 interceptions.

Defensively, senior Jackson Barone came up with an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

“Boys fought hard and played well in spots, but we have to learn to take care of the ball a little better and execute more consistently,” said T. Rykal. “We will get back to work this week, and get ready for Webster coming in Friday night.”
