A chilly Saturday morning, Sept. 7, didn’t slow down the Cadott cross country program, as they were on the road to a meet at Loyal-Greenwood.

“This was the first time the event was held on a Saturday, but there was still a great turnout, with a competitive field of runners,” said coach Dan Yeager.

Taking second place, trailing only behind McDonell, was the boys team, with sophomore Beau Steinke hitting a new personal best, in fourth place, with a time of 17:32. Junior Saibyn Will followed that up with a 19th place finish (19:40), while freshman Jacob Pilgrim just missed out on medaling (20:30).

Sophomores Kaden Roen and Jon Phelps came across the finish line, just a place apart.

On the girls side, the Hornets placed eighth, with senior Cortney Weggen in 15th (23:43), while juniors Josie Roth and Iszy Sonnentag working to get up to 100 percent.

“Our overall times continue to improve and we hope to get healthy, moving forward,” said Yeager. “McKenna Steinke (senior) and Mia Weggen (senior) ran their first races of the season, and we are excited to see what the future holds for us.”
