Marathon’s American Legion Post 469 baseball team is off to a hot start this summer with an 8-0 record along with two ties.

Post 469 began its season with a 7-1 road win against the Wittenberg Legion. Tyler Underwood was the winning pitcher. Cale Quaintance batted two for two while Blake Underwood and Cody Radtke collected two RBIs apiece. Marathon and Wittenberg tied the second game, 2-2, of the doubleheader because of the time limit.

Marathon swept a home doubleheader on June 7 against the Cadott Junior Legion by scores of 14-0 and 18-8.

Ean Shuda was the winning pitcher in the 18-8 win. He also hit two for three at the plate. Will Tourtillott led Post 469 by going three for four with a double and four RBIs. Jake Lepak batted two for four with three RBIs. Owen Chrouser also collected three RBIs. Grant Salber was two for four with a pair of RBIs. Quillan Kunkel added two RBIs in the victory.

Post 469 dominated the D.C. Everest Junior Legion, 15-3, in a June 10 road contest. Radtke earned the pitching win. Tyler Underwood doubled and had three RBIs. Quaintance was three for three with a pair of RBIs. Radtke batted two for three with a triple and two RBIs. Grant Warren hit two for four and DeBroux had two RBIs in the victory. Marathon and D.C. Everest Junior Legion tied, 3-3, in the second game of the doubleheader because of a time limit. Charlie Ehlert batted two for two for Post 469.

Marathon won a home doubleheader against Loyal on Thursday by scores of 9-1 and 3-2.

Grant Warren was the winning pitcher in the 9-1 victory. Tyler Underwood belted a home run. Jorey Kunkel led Post 469 with three RBIs and Blake Underwood had two RBIs. Warren hit three for four and True Thurs doubled in the win.

Tourtillott earned the pitching win in the 3-2 victory against Loyal. Taylor Underwood batted two for two with a double.

Post 469 won a home doubleheader against Tomahawk on Friday by scores of 11-1 and 6-3.

Tyler Underwood was the winning pitcher in the 11-1 victory. He also doubled and had two RBIs. Warren batted two for three with a pair of RBIs and Blake Underwood had two RBIs. Cooper Hoeksema hit two for two in the win.

DeBroux earned the pitching win in the 6-3 victory. Swayne Stencil and Chrouser collected two RBIs each in the game. Shuda hit two for two in the win.

Post 469’s home doubleheader on Monday against Medford Junior Legion was rained out. Marathon returns to action this Thursday, June 20, with a home doubleheader at 6 p.m. against Edgar’s summer baseball team.
