Trio of Tigers on first team

Three Stratford varsity softball players were awarded first team Maawood South Conference this season. Junior pitcher Laney Pankratz is a unanimous first team all-conference selection for the second straight season after earning second team all-conference as a freshman. Junior catcher Emma Roeper earned first team all-conference this season after earning second team last season and honorable mention as a freshman. Freshman center fielder Carly Pankratz, who is Laney Pankratz’s sister, is also first team all-conference this season.
Stratford finished this season with a 20-7 record after losing to Auburndale in a road WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal. The Tigers did win back-to-back regional championships after a thrilling come-from-behind extra inning win against the Edgar Wildcats.
Laney Pankratz was Stratford’s ace pitcher again this season. She had a 14-3 pitching record this season with 148 strikeouts and a 1.06 ERA. She had 89 at-bats in Stratford’s 26 games. She collected 25 hits including 21 singles, three doubles and a triple. She had 17 RBIs and scored 26 runs. She had a .281 batting average.
Roeper had 82 at-bats in 26 games. She had 27 hits including 19 singles, six doubles and two home runs. She had 34 RBIs and scored 19 runs. She had a .329 record.
Carly Pankratz had 88 at-bats in 26 games. She collected 31 hits including 23 singles, four doubles and four triples. She had 10 RBIs and scored 23 runs. She had a .352 batting average. Carly Pankratz scored the winning run in the eighth inning during Stratford’s 8-7 home regional championship win against Edgar.
Edgar senior Morgan Streveler did an admirable job going from playing catcher to being the team’s ace pitcher this season in place of senior Makayla Wirkus who couldn’t play during her recovery from shoulder surgery. Wirkus was a unanimous first team Marawood South Conference player during her first three season in high school. Streveler was thus awarded unanimous first team Marawood South Conference this season.
Streveler had a 10-8 pitching record this season with 111 strike outs and a 3.03 ERA.

She had 65 at-bats in 22 games. She collected 20 hits including 14 singles, four doubles, a triple and a home run. She also had 16 RBIs and she scored seven runs. She had a .308 batting average. Streveler was also a unanimous first team player during her sophomore season. She made second team all-conference as a freshman and junior.
Marathon senior Lauren Karen was also awarded first team Marawood South Conference this season. Karlen received honorable mention all-conference last season. Marathon player statistics were not available.
Red Raiders junior Danica Paszek and freshman Allison Podjaski were named second team Marathon South Conference this spring. Edgar senior centerfielder Taylor Lemmer was also awarded second team all-conference this season. Lemmer had 65 at-bats in 22 games. She collected 20 hits including 15 singles and five doubles. She had seven RBIs and she scored 17 runs. She had a .308 batting average.
Stratford senior second baseman Kressa Wenzel and sophomore first baseman/pitcher Tria Tubbs were awarded second team Marawood South Conference this year. Wenzel had 78 at-bats in 26 games. She collected 21 hits including 20 singles and a triple. She had 13 RBIs and scored 11 runs. She had a .269 batting average.
Tubbs had 83 at-bats in 26 games. She collected 27 hits including 21 singles, three doubles, a triple and two home runs. She had 12 RBIs and scored 18 runs. She had a .325 batting average. Tubbs was Stratford’s No. 2 starting pitcher. She had a 6-3 pitching record with 45 strikeouts and a .328 ERA.
Stratford sophomore shortstop Gracie Schmidt received honorable mention allconference for the second straight season. She had 77 at-bats in 26 games. She collected 21 hits including 17 singles and four doubles. She had 16 RBIs and she scored 16 runs. She had a .273 batting average.
Tigers junior left fielder Emerson Roy is honorable mention all-conference for the first time this spring. Roy had 38 at-bats in 18 games. She collected nine hits that were all singles. She had an RBI and scored 12 runs. She had a .237 batting average.
Edgar junior second baseman Emery Borchardt received honorable mention allconference for the second straight season. She had 57 at-bats in 22 games. She collected 16 hits including 11 singles, three doubles, a triple and a home run. She had six RBIs and scored nine runs. She had a .281 batting average.
Wildcats senior first baseman Maycie Yonker is honorable mention all-conference for the first time this spring. She had 58 at-bats in 22 games. She collected 17 hits including 11 singles, two doubles and four home runs. She had 19 RBIs and scored 18 runs. She had a .293 batting average.
Marathon senior Bridget Salber and freshman Ripley Skrypchak were awarded honorable mention all-conference this season. Salber was awarded second team all-conference the previous two seasons.
