ARCHERY EASTERN NATIONALS
Gilman senior Dalton Wisocky put together two solid rounds in bullseye and 3-D competition to lead student archers from Gilman and Medford who attended the National Archery in the Schools Progam’s Eastern Nationals in Louisville, Ky. the weekend of May 9-11.
In bullseye competition, Wisocky posted a score of 292 out of a possible 300 with 25 of 30 shots hitting the 10-point circle on the target. That put him 31st out of 2,513 high school boys who competed in the shoot, 33rd of 7,574 boys overall and 11th out of 472 senior boys.
He helped lead Gilman to a 184th-place finish out of 252 scoring teams in the high school division. To score as a team, archery squads need six boys and six girls. Gilman used a mix of high school and middle schools students to create a scoring team. The Pirates scored 3,183 points. Alma Bryant High of Alabama won the team championship with 3,461 points, 24 more than Locust Grove of Oklahoma.
Makii Austin Mallo shot a 279 for Gilman to rank 202nd out of 2,941 middle school boys, while Kennedy Buske shot a 272 to rank 354th out of 2,635 middle school girls (grades 6-8). Reece Weir also shot a 272 and ranked 360th.
Olivia Buske’s 262 ranked 1,326th out of 2,496 high school girls.
Also for the Pirates, Jazmyn Robinson shot a 261 and was 886th among middle school girls. Tyrel Mravik shot a 261 and was 1,544th among high school boys.
Among high school girls, Kameron Baltzley shot a 261 and was 1,391st, Misty Mravik shot a 256 and was 1,623rd, Destiny Bertsinger shot a 247 and was 1,987th. In middle school boys competition, Colton Lang shot a 269 and was 610th, Aiden Hanke shot a 251 and was 1,586th, Jaylin Mallo shot a 242 and was 2,015th and Weston Baltzley shot a 220 to rank 2,633rd.
Fifth grader Emma Partridge shot a 231 and ranked 798th out of 1,789 elementary girls. Fourth grader Addison Lang shot a 227 to rank 897th and fifth grader Dylan Herring shot a 203 to rank 1,354th.
Medford junior Mattie Gebert earned a score of 284 that put her 140th in the girls high school competition and sixth grader Dylan Emmerich shot a 281 to put him 133rd among middle school boys.
Gunnar Couch, a seventh grader from Grand Bay Middle School of Alabama was the lone archer out of 14,494 archers (7,574 boys and 6,920 girls) to record a perfect score of 300. Madilynn Rhinevault, a senior from Montrose Area High School in Pennsylvania, had the lone 299 score.
3-D results
In the Eastern Nationals 3-D shoot, Wisocky and Gebert were the top local scorers. Wisocky shot a 288 with 19 10-point shots to finish 35th out of 1,225 high school boys and 49th overall out of 3,353 boys. He was the 14th-ranked senior boy. Gebert shot a 285 to place 40th out of 1,177 high school girls and 51st out of 3,092 girls overall. She was the 16th ranked junior girl.
Medford’s Tana Rappe shot a 250 that put her 770th among high school girls. Emmerich’s 275 put him 110th out of 1,284 middle school boys.
Colton Lang did well for Gilman, shooting a 280 to place 51st among middle school boys. Robinson was 161st among middle school girls with a 269, Weir was 197th with her 267 and Kennedy Buske shot a 255 to rank 446th.
Misty Mravik’s 258 put her 612th among high school girls, Baltzley was 873rd with a 243, Bertsinger was 886th with a 242, Olivia Buske was 1,037th at 224. Tyrel Mravik’s 246 put him 892nd among high school boys.
Henke shot a 246 to place 665th among middle school boys, Makii Austin Mallo shot a 244 to rank 711th, Weston Baltzley shot a 218 to rank 1,064th and Jaylin Mallo shot a 206 to rank 1,144th. Addison Lang placed 331st among elementary girls with a 222 and Partridge was 525th at 195.
Gilman was 91st out of 157 teams in the high school rankings with 1,617 points. 3-D teams consist of three boys and three girls scores. Hartland, Mich. won the championship with 1,735 points, eight ahead of Carl Junction High School of Missouri. Mathew Harper of Maysville, Ohio, a junior, had the top score of 298 and Rhinevault was the top female at 297.
Centershot shoots
Medford’s archers also competed in the Centershot Ministries Eastern National Championships, also held in Louisville alongside the NASP event.
In the 3-D event, Gebert’s 284 put her in the top 10 among high school girls. She was ninth out of 222 entrants in the division and 15th overall out of 564 girls. Rappe’s 263 put her 89th in the high school division and 165th overall. Emmerich put up a score of 270 that put him 41st out of 226 middle school boys and 130th overall out of 551 boys.
Ava Castrogiovanni of Montrose, Penn. was the top shooter overall as she got a 298. Harper was the top male at 297.
In the bullseye shoot, Gebert shot a 283 to place 38th out of 399 high school girls and 71st overall out of 1,064 girls. Rappe was 233rd in the high school division at 260. Emmerich did well, shooting a 279 to rank 46th out of 436 middle school boys and 147th overall out of 1,100 boys.
Harper’s 298 led all scorers and Rhinevault shot a 297.
