WBCAALL-STARS - All-Stars Hraby, Blomberg will hit the hardwood one last time

After earning All-State recognition in March, it comes as no surprise that Tanner Hraby of Medford and Jackson Blomberg of Rib Lake have been chosen to participate in the 2024 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Games to be played June 27 at JustAGame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells.
Hraby will make it four straight years Medford has been represented in the Division 2 boys game, following Logan Baumgartner last year, Joey Sullivan in 2022 and Peyton Kuhn and coaches Ryan Brown and Bob Komanec in 2021.
Blomberg is Rib Lake’s first all-star since Levi Ewan was chosen for the 2020 Division 5 boys game that unfortunately never happened due to Covid.
Hraby is listed as a member of theWhite team in the boys Division 2 game. He is the 2023-24 Great Northern Conference Player of the Year and Medford’s third all-time leading scorer with 1,346 career points. He was an honorable mention selection for the WBCA’s Division 2 All-State team and a two-time unanimous All-GNC first-team choice.
Hraby scored a GNC-high 23.6 points per game in league play, which included a GNC-high 3.5 3-pointers per game and a leaguebest 3.6 steals per game. Hraby tied for fourth at 3.3 assists per game and he tied for seventh in the rebounding department with 5.3 per game.
Overall in 26 games, Hraby averaged 21.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.4 steals per game for the Raiders. His 565 points this season also ranks third alltime in Medford hoops history. He plans to attend UW-River Falls next year and play baseball for the Falcons.
The White team will be coached by Daniel Garrett of Wausau East, who will be assisted by Tyrreonte Wilson of Wausau East and John Schurk of Stevens Point Pacelli. Members of the team Medford fans may be familiar with include Evan Anderson of Onalaska, Henry Meyer of La Crosse Central, Landon Thomer of Mosinee, Reis Hidde of New Richmond and Isaac Rozwadowski of Wausau East. Blomberg is the 2023-24 Marawood North Player of the Year and a unanimous all-conference pick after earning second- team honors last year. He was a first-team selection for this year’s WBCA Division 5 All-State team. Blomberg averaged 14.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.9 steals per game while appearing in all 27 of Rib Lake’s games this year. He scored 388 points. He made 45 3-pointers, 32 of which came in Marawood games. In conference play, he averaged 15.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game in 16 Marawood contests.
Blomberg plans to attend UW-Stevens Point next year and play baseball for the Pointers.
He is part of the Division 5 White team that will be coached by Brett Baehman of Oshkosh Lourdes Academy. He’ll be assisted by Bryan Bomberg of Florence and Russel Young of Gillett. Names on the roster local fans may recognize include Blake Jakobi and Charlie Moore of Columbus Catholic, Gunnar Greuel of Winter and Ryan Popowich of Bruce. The Red team includes Emmitt Konieczny of Columbus Catholic and Isaiah Kastern of sectional champion Solon Springs.
The girls All-Star games are scheduled for Wednesday, June 26. The boys games on the following day start with Division 5 at 9 a.m. The Division 2 game wills start at about 2 p.m. The players will take part in the All-Star Banquets held the night before each game.
The games serve as major fundraisers for several organizations and participants are required to raise money in order to compete. Each of the following charities will receive $20,000 from the WBCA fundraising efforts: Camp Hometown Heroes, Camp Wawbeek/Easter Seals Wisconsin, Garding Against Cancer, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MACC Fund) and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin.
