ABBOTSFORD TRACK & FIELD INVITE

Olivia Lopez pushed her school-record girls long jump record out a few more inches during a two-win day and Rib Lake’s boys picked up wins in three events during Monday’s windy and occasionally rainy Abbotsford Invitational.

The girls turned five top-three finishes into the majority of their 76 points, which put them in fourth place in the seven-team meet. The Redmen outscored Athens (66), Chequamegon (56) and Prentice (34). Abbotsford edged out Stanley-Boyd by three, 145-142 to win the meet, while Edgar was third with 114 points.

Lopez set Rib Lake’s outdoor long jump record earlier in the month at 15 feet, 9.5 inches. Now that record stands at 15-11.75 after her winning jump on Monday. She won the event fairly handily with runner-up Macie LaGrander of Stanley-Boyd being 10.25 inches behind. Rib Lake’s Maddie Rademacher was credited with fourth place at a new best of 14-9, tying the distance of third-place jumper Bethany Pilgrim of Stanley-Boyd. Emma Tlusty was 10th for Rib Lake at 13-10.

Lopez added a second-place finish in the triple jump at 32-6, just 1 inch behind Edgar’s Rachel Burke and 3 inches ahead of third-place jumper Celia Schindler of Abbotsford.

On the track, Lopez won the 200-meter dash in a time of 28.86 seconds, 0.05 seconds ahead of LaGrander. Anna Martin was 12th for Rib Lake, lowering her time to 34.96 seconds. Rib Lake’s hurdling tandem of Tlusty and Isabelle Gumz put 24 points on the team’s tally for the day. Tlusty took second in the 100-meter highs at 18.45 seconds, 0.56 seconds behind winner Lula Chwala of Stanley-Boyd and just 0.04 seconds off her season-best time. Gumz was fifth in 19.41 seconds.
