Loyal, Spencer track teams compete at Black River Falls LHS takes home 4 golds, 6 silvers, 1 bronze
The Loyal and Spencer track and field teams traveled to Black River Falls for a cold and windy Hoffman Invitational on April 23. While both schools finished in the middle to bottom of the pack when it came to team rankings, Loyal accumulated several individual first- and second-place finishes.
Athletes for Loyal placing in the top eight to score points for their team were as follows, listed by placing.
Connor Genteman won the boys 1600m run with a time of 4:50.48. He also won the boys 800m run with a time of 2:03.75. Summer Smith won the girls triple jump with a distance of 31’4.5”. The girls 4x100m relay team won with a time of 55.08. Team members were Molly Zvolena, Hope Peroshek, Noelle Teschner and Smith.
Sheila Tellock took second in the girls 100m dash at 13.43 seconds. Zvolena placed second in the girls triple jump with a distance of 30’9”. Peroshek placed second in the discus throw at 92’4”. Bryce Deegan placed second in the boys 400m dash at 55.20. He also placed second in the boys triple jump at 38’6”. The girls 4x200m relay team took second with a time of 1:58.09.
Addysen Wolf took third in the girls 100m dash at 13.62. Olivia Nikolai finished fourth in the girls 100m hurdles at 19.07. Preston Farmer took fourth in the boys shot put at 37’2”. Molly Zvolena placed fifth in the girls long jump with a distance of 14’2.5”. Annika Schley took fifth in the girls 800m run at 2:53.26.
The boys 4x100m relay team placed sixth with a time of 51.53, and the boys 4x200m relay team of Jerome Buchanan, Peyton Farmer, Jacob Schmidt and Preston Farmer took seventh with a time of 1:48.71.
Annika Schley placed eighth in the girls 400m dash with a time of 1:10.23. Hope Peroshek took eighth in the girls 100m dash at 14.15.
The Loyal girls finished in fifth out of nine teams with 73 points. Other girls teams scores were Tomah 104, Neillsville 97, Sparta 81, Melrose-Mindoro 78, Eleva-Strum 68, Black River Falls 64, Alma Center Lincoln 59 and Spencer 27.
The Loyal boys finished seventh of nine teams, scoring 48 points. Other team scores were Tomah 169, Sparta 121, Neillsville 110, Melrose-Mindoro 71, Black River Falls 64, Eleva-Strum 51, Spencer 10 and Alma Center Lincoln 6.
Spencer results Athletes making it into the top eight to score points for Spencer included the following.
Caitlin Clark took second in the girls long jump, leaping 15’7”. The winner of that event had a jump of 15’11”. Isabella Van-Kerkhof placed third in the girls 3200m run with a time of 15:31.91. Kaydence Plaskey took fourth in that same event at 15:55.76. Teddy Meyer placed fourth in the boys triple jump with a distance of 37’3.5”.
Autumn Davis placed sixth in the girls 100m dash with a time of 13.89. Alina Jackson placed seventh in the girls 200m dash with a time of 30.72.
The girls 4x200m relay team took sixth at 2:04.99. The boys 4x200m relay team took fourth at 1:42.54.
