Loyal, Granton track and field teams compete at Pittsville
The Loyal track and field team had a few first-place finishers at Pittsville on April 29. Three athletes won their individual events to help the girls and boys teams finish mid-pack at the invite. Bryce Deegan, Connor Genteman and Summer Smith each placed first in their respective events, with Deegan winning the boys triple jump (40’5”), Genteman winning the 800m run (2:01.44) and Smith winning the girls triple jump (32’2.5”).
Individual results for the Loyal boys are as follows: Deegan, second, 400m dash, 55.27; Jaden Smith, second, shot put, 38’2”, third, discus, 114’5”; Preston Farmer, third, shot put, 36’3”; Payton Tsai, fourth, pole vault, 10’8”; Jerome Buchanan, sixth, long jump, 17’6.25”.
The Loyal boys also had a 4x400m relay team compete, taking third place with a time of 4:21.70.
Individual results for the Loyal girls are as follows: Molly Zvolena, second, triple jump, 30’8.5”; Addysen Wolf, second, 200m dash, 27.74, third, 100m dash, 13.53; Hope Peroshek, third, discus, 88’4”; Olivia Nikolai, fourth, 100m hurdles, 21.46, fourth, pole vault, 7’6”; Lesly Soto, fifth, 100m hurdles, 21.47; Annika Schley, fifth, 400m dash, 1:10.60, sixth, 800m run, 2:53.32, seventh, discus, 69’1”; Addison Holm, seventh, 800m run, 3:06.26, eighth, 400m dash, 1:14.57; Gwen LaMarr, eighth, long jump, 13’5.5”.
The Loyal girls also had two relay teams compete and place at the invite. Both the 4x200m relay team and the 4x100m relay team took second, with the 4x200m team finishing in 1:57.26 and the 4x100m team finishing in 55.51.
Granton results The Granton track and field team also competed at Pittsville. The team had one team compete in the girls 4x100m relay course, taking third with a time of 57.75.
Individual results for the Granton boys and girls are as follows: Anna Kayhart, second, 100m hurdles, 18.15, fourth, triple jump, 30’4”; Koltin Luchterhand, fourth, 300m hurdles, 53.94; Faustina Thomas, fifth, high jump, 3’8”, sixth, long jump, 13’9.5”; Jordan Berg, seventh, triple jump, 26’8”.
The Marathon girls team took first place at Pittsville with 152.5 points. Assumption was second (101), Neillsville was third (97), Loyal took fourth with 82 points, Pittsville was fifth (65.5), Pacelli was sixth (60), Granton finished seventh with 28 points and John Edwards took eighth (4).
In the boys events, Marathon also took first place with 149 points. Neillsville was second (136.5), Pacelli was third (82.5), Assumption was fourth (80.5), Pittsville was fifth (71), Loyal took sixth with 62 points, John Edwards was seventh (29.5) and Granton took eighth with 5 points.
Getting the out
Loyal-Greenwood’s (LG) Tysen Lindner throws to a base to earn an out for her team in their game against Neillsville-Granton (NG) last Friday at Loyal. The LG girls wrapped up a game they had started a previous day, winning that one 19-8, and won a second game against NG 20-10.
