Genteman, Tellock, Wolf, 2 relay teams claim 1st at Augusta meet

The Loyal High School track and field team continued its busy schedule by traveling to Augusta for the Beaver Invite last Thursday, after competing at Black River Falls two days prior. Despite potentially competing on tired legs, that did not stop several Loyal athletes from placing and earning points for the Greyhounds.

Athletes placing in the top eight to score points for their team were as follows: Girls Three Greyhound runners placed in the 100m dash: Addysen Wolf won the event with a time of 13.74 seconds, Sheila Tellock just a hundredth of a second behind her at 13.75. Noelle Teschner placed fifth at 14.63.

Tellock won the pole vault, clearing the bar at 10’. Her teammate Olivia Nikolai took third place in that event, at 7’6”. Hope Peroshek took second in the 200m dash at 30.31. Molly Zvolena took third in the triple jump at 29’10”. Nikolai finished fourth in the 100m hurdles at 18.82. Addison Holm placed sixth in the 400m dash at 1:12.65. In the 1600m run, Elsa Chapron claimed seventh place at 7:50.83. The girls 4x100m relay and 4x200m relay teams each won their event, with times of 54.33 and 1:56.36, respectively.

Overall, the girls took third place out of seven teams.

Boys Connor Genteman won the 1600m run at 4:46.58 and took second in the 800m run at 2:01.79. Bryce Deegan placed second in the 400m dash at 54.99 seconds, second in the triple jump at 36’11” and third in the 200m dash at 24.62 seconds. Payton Tsai took second in the pole vault at 10’4”. Jaden Smith tied for second in the shot put with a throw of 38’10” and placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 108’2”. Preston Farmer took fourth place in the 100m dash, with a time of 12.56 seconds. His brother Peyton was right behind him, coming in fifth at 12.74 seconds. Preston Farmer also placed sixth in the shot put at 35’11”.

The boys 4x200m relay team took third at 1:49.09. The Loyal boys team placed fourth out of the seven schools represented at the meet.
