Loyal track and field competes at Rosholt invite
The Loyal High School track and field team competed at the Rosholt indoor invitational held at the UW-Stevens Point multi-activity center on March 30. Several athletes from the boys and girls teams placed in the top eight to earn points for the Greyhounds.
Three individuals and one relay team placed in the top eight in the women's events. Molly Zvolena placed in two events for Loyal, taking third in the long jump with a leap of 14'7' and seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 30'. Summer Smith placed fifth in the triple jump at 30'3' and Annika Schley took eighth in the 400m dash with a time of 1:11.09.
The Loyal girls also had a team compete in the 4X200m relay. Running the relay were Hope Peroshek, Addysen Wolf, Smith and Zvolena. The team ran a combined time of 2:01.72 and took fifth place.
Two athletes also placed for Loyal in the men's events. Connor Genteman placed in two events for Loyal, taking second place in the 800m run with a time of 2:08.49 and third in the 1600m run with a time of 4:50.97. Bryce Deegan also placed in the top eight for Loyal, taking fifth place in the 400m dash with a time of 55.87.
As a team, the Loyal girls earned 17 points to take 12th place out of 16 teams. Taking the top three placings were Rosholt (81), Manawa (59) and Lena/ St. Thomas Academy (51).
For the boys, Loyal earned 18 points and placed 11th out of 18 teams. Taking the top three placings were Kewaunee (94), New London (69) and Manawa (54).
