RAINBOW GYMNASTICS - Handful of gymnasts bounce toward the top of their groupings at Leprechaun Leap

Kyla Krause, and Ruby Holtman, Camren Frahmann and Grace Ziembo were overall winners, while two more were second-place finishers in their groupings when Medford’s Rainbow Gymnastics Club competed March 16-17 at the Bloomer Phoenix’s Leprechaun Leap meet.

Krause topped three other competitors in the open optional category with an all-around total score of 32.2. She outscored Alyvia Dietsche of Marshfield’s Hub City club by 0.45 to capture first place overall. Krause won the vault with a 9.1 and the floor exercise with an 8.7. She was second on the uneven bars at 6.9 and tied for third on the balance beam at 7.5.

Holtman posted an all-around total of 34.75 to win the Level 5 competition over Hub City’s Allie Seehafer (25.45). Holtman won the floor (8.8), bars (8.4) and beam (8.15) and was 0.05 points behind Seehafer on the vault with a 9.4.

Frahmann and Ziembo topped the 10-11 age group in Level 2, which included four Rainbow gymnasts, by tying with all-around scores of 36.05. Zarianna De La Cruz wasn’t far behind in third place at 35.85, while Leona Botsford was fifth at 35.1.

In individual events, Ziembo won the bars with a 9.0 with Frahmann second (8.9), De La Cruz fifth (8.35) and Botsford sixth (7.5). De La Cruz won the floor with a 9.05 with Botsford second (9.0), Frahmann third (8.9) and Ziembo fourth (8.75). Botsford won the beam at 9.25 with De La Cruz third (8.9) and Frahmann and Ziembo tying for fourth at 8.8. De La Cruz tied for second on the vault at 9.55 with Ziembo fourth (9.5), Frahmann fifth (9.45) and Botsford seventh (9.35).

In the younger group of Level 2 gymnasts, Rainbow’s Madison Baird was fourth with 35.35 all-around points and Cecelia Miicke was sixth with 34.95. Baird got a 9.3 on vault, a 9.0 on beam, an 8.65 on floor and an 8.4 on bars. Miicke got a 9.35 on vault, an 8.9 on beam, an 8.7 on floor and an 8.0 on bars.

Rainbow had a Level 2 team score of 108.9, good for second behind Hub City’s 110.2.

Rainbow scored 107.6 team points in Level 3 to trail Team UP (112.9) and Hub City (108). Lena Schug was second out of 10 gymnasts ages 10-12, while Tinley Hamm was third. They had all-around scores of 36.45 and 35.75. Kimberley Blair was seventh at 33.55. Hamm tied for first on vault with a 9.6, while Schug earned a 9.45 and Blair got a 9.4. Schug was third on bars at 9.05. Hamm’s score was 8.8 and Blair got a 7.7. Schug tied for second on the beam with her 9.0, which was just 0.05 points out of the lead. Hamm got an 8.55 and Blair earned a 7.9. Schug got an 8.95, Hamm got an 8.8 and Blair got an 8.55 on floor.

In the younger group, Miranda Potocnik was seventh with an all-around score of 34.7 and Myla Mallak was eighth at 33.9. Potocnik’s scores were 9.5 on vault, 8.85 on floor, 8.75 on bars and 7.6 on beam. Mallak’s scores were 9.3 on vault, 8.3 on floor, 8.3 on beam and 8.0 on bars.

Aurelia Brushaber placed second in Level 4 with 35.45 points, beating Hub City’s Eva Hoogesteger (34.1) and trailing Hub City’s Norah Gilbertson (36). Brushaber tied Gilbertson for first on beam (9.05), was second on bars (8.2), second on floor (8.85) and third on vault (9.35).

Brooke Buechel was third out of seven Level 6 gymnasts with her all-around score of 34.85 that included a 9.45 on vault, 9.0 on beam, 8.6 on floor and 7.8 on bars. Lillian Nemitz-Coleman was sixth in Xcel Gold competition with a score of 33.75 that included a 9.3 on vault, an 8.35 on beam and 8.05s on bars and floor.
