SC youth wrestlers advance to, compete at state
Spencer-Columbus wrestlers went to Madison to compete in the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation State Tournament over the weekend.
It was a record breaking year for the program, with 14 state qualifiers, as follows: -- 2009-2010 boys, 95 pounds: Riddick Meyer (six-time state qualifier) -- 2015-2016 boys, 69 pounds: Deklin Meyer -- 2011-2012 boys, 73 pounds: Grady Schultz (three-time state qualifier) -- 2011-2012 girls, 115 pounds: Ember Zupanc (four-time state qualifier) -- 2011-2012 boys, 85 pounds: Garrett Bodendorfer (three-time state qualifier) -- 2011-2012 boys, 91 pounds: Bryant Krall -- 2013-2014 girls, 55 pounds: Annelise Spindler (twotime state qualifier) -- 2011-2012 boys, 210 pounds: Hunter Schuh -- 2009-2010 boys, 150 pounds: Hunter Boyd -- 2009-2010 boys, heavyweight: Jayden Rinehart -- 2011-2012 boys, 210 pounds: Aiden Lynn -- 2015-2016 boys, 57 pounds: Croix Preisinger (two-time state qualifier) -- 2011-2012 boys, 110 pounds: Holden Lomax (five-time state qualifer) -- 2011-2012 boys, 67 pounds: Andreas Spindler Six wrestlers made the podium at state, with results as follows: On Friday, Lomax took third place, going 4-1. Lynn also took third, going 3-1. Other win-loss records on the day were: Andreas Spindler 0-2, Schultz 3-2, Krall 2-2, Schuh 1-2 and Bodendorfer 3-2.
On Saturday, Preisinger claimed fifth place, going 4-2; and Riddick Meyer took fourth place, going 5-2. Other results were: Boyd 1-2, Rinehart 1-2 and Deklin Meyer 2-2.
On Sunday, Zupanc claimed the championship, taking first place with a 4-0 record. Annelise Spindler took third place, going 3-1.
