Medford’s Tanner Hraby took his Great Northern Conference Player of the Year one step further Tuesday when he was named to the Division 2 honorable mention list for the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association’s 2023-24 All-State team.

Hraby is one of 21 players to get mentioned after the top 11 vote-getters landed on the Division 2 first team. Three Raiders have been responsible for Medford earning five straight GNC Player of the Year awards and all three of them –– Hraby, Logan Baumgartner and Peyton Kuhn –– now have earned All-State awards from the WBCA.

Baumgartner was a first-team choice last year and got honorable mention as a junior, while Kuhn got honorable mention as a senior in 2021.

Hraby scored a GNC-high 23.6 points per game in league play, which included a GNC-high 3.5 3-pointers per game and a league-best 3.6 steals per game. Hraby tied for fourth at 3.3 assists per game and he tied for seventh in the rebounding department with 5.3 per game.

Overall in 26 games, Hraby averaged 21.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.4 steals per game for the Raiders. He surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career in a 62-42 win at Northland Pines on Jan. 5 and, with 565 points this season, moved all the way up to third place all-time on Medford’s record board with 1,346 points.

Also from the GNC, Mosinee senior Keagan Jirschele got honorable mention for the second straight season. Three other players Medford faced this year made the list as well –– New Richmond senior Reis Hidde, who scored 39 points in a 10580 win at Medford on Dec. 21; La Crosse Central senior Henry Meyer and Rice Lake junior Zach Orr.

The Division 2 All-State team is led by threetime first-teamer Kon Knueppel of state champion Wisconsin Lutheran (30-0), Knueppel is a Duke recruit and is ranked among the top 25 players nationally. He averaged 25.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game for the Vikings.

Other repeat first-team picks included one player Medford is familiar with, Onalaska senior Evan Anderson, as well as Davion Hannah of state qualifier Nicolet, Nick Janowski of state runnerup Pewaukee who is a Nebraska recruit, Jaquan Johnson of Pius XI Catholic and Kai Rogers of Wauwatosa West.

Filling out the first team are River Falls senior Joey Butz, Stoughton senior Ty Fernholz, West Salem senior Tamarrien Henderson, Fox Valley Lutheran senior Adam Loberger and Grafton senior Michael McNabb Jr.
